The ThanksG Celebration
We piled out of town on Tuesday afternoon and headed onwards ho to Cincinnati. Arriving late at night, we pretty much went straight to bed. Wednesday Ben and I both worked from home and got a lot of good work done. Come 5:30, we started preparing for our holiday feast. I made two kinds of sweet potatoes (my mama's recipes) and the Thanksgiving cranberries with those wonderful boiled down cranberries, apricots, port wine, orange juice, pecans. Yummy. Ben was responsible for the two organic turkeys we bought just before coming to Cincy.
The highlight was going to Fehriah's house with her 3 adorable kids--Linda, Bleurina, and Jeanetta--and making bread. It was a 3 hour extravaganza, and though my goal was to learn how to make bread the way she does, that just won't happen because of course she eyeballed the whole thing. All I know is yeast, flour, water, salt, sugar. In some quantity. Let it rise. Then form it into tiny balls. Then let them rise. Then bake at two different temperatures (unknown) for an undetermined time. Et voila, bread.
But we did much more than that. In addition to setting up fruit fly traps, we spent most of the time dancing to Beyonce & the Cupid Shuffle. The girls loved it, and so did we.
Now tradition states that we must go to work out for multiple hours before coming home and eating with 24 people at the World's Longest Table.
There's lots to do before we actually sit down and consume food. So I gotta hop to it.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
