Lebanon Pictures: A Taste of Beirut

Beautiful churches scattered throughout the city.


A snapshot of the military who are so very present everywhere. (You may have to squint to catch them in that photo...) There are military checkpoints, caravans of soldiers, and paroling officers everywhere. Made me feel a bit tense, but everyone else is used to it.
The mosques are beautiful as well, emitting the call to prayer throughout the day, sometimes competing for sound space with the church bells.
Yes, that is a farmer's market...and one of the best outside of the US that I've ever seen. Vibrant, huge, filled with fresh organic produce from all over the teeny tiny country!
